It’s a combination of 1 semester (16 weeks) of the most intensive English program at ILAC + 1 semester at a Canadian college or university.

You will need to study extra weeks at ILAC. Please consult with an ILAC Gap program coordinator about how many additional weeks will be required.
No. It is a special program ILAC has with the GAP Year partner university and completing 16 weeks of study at ILAC is one of the requirements
for the program.
Yes, you need to submit the application and supporting documents to the university and meet the entry requirements before enolling at ILAC. Once you start the program in ILAC, you will be contacted by Gap program coordinator accordingly. They will set Orientation and explain the next steps to enroll at the college in the 2nd semester.
Depending on the partner schools, but most of the institutions will require you to submit your high school graduation certificate and transcripts. (Original Language & Notarized English translation).

Most students choose to stay with Homestay program. Residence option is also available (but not guarenteed).
TRU is in Kamloops, a 5 -hour drive from Vancouver.
Douglas College is in New Westminster, 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver by sky train.
LaSalle campus is conveniently located at a major Skytrain station on Renfrew Street, about 20 minutes from downtown by public transportation.
Niagara College is located about a 2-hour drive from downtown Toronto.
You will take 3 full-time academic courses (a total of 9 credits) at Douglas.
You will take 4 full-time academic courses (a total of 12 credits) at TRU.
La Salle offers programs in the area of design, fashion, media arts and culinary. You will study 3 or 4 courses (a total of 12 credits).
Niagara college GAP YEAR semester offers business, hospitality and general arts streams and allows students to take up to 6 college courses.
You will be registering for courses yourself. Usually, there are several time options for each course, so you can choose classes early or later in the morning, as well as in the afternoon.
University registration happens 3-4 months prior to your university/college start date. Gap program coordinator will explain the procedure and help you to register for courses.
Only LaSalle College will require a diagnostic English test, the other colleges/universities do not require any English test before the enrollment. However, some courses may require a higher level of math or English, so if you want to take those, additional testing might be necessary.
Textbooks are an additional cost and it depends on the courses you take. There might be a lab fee which is posted at the later date and should be paid by the student.
College and university will provide a transcript showing the grades for the courses you took. LaSalle will issue a certificate upon completing La Salle 11-week certificate program.
