IEW 2021: Celebrating the benefits of studying and working in Canada

It’s International Education Week (IEW) 2021 and ILAC students, teachers and staff are celebrating the benefits of studying and working in Canada.

International Education Week is an opportunity for teachers, educators, students and future leaders to recognize the cultural, economic and personal opportunities international education creates.

This year, International Education Week (IEW) takes place from November 15-19, 2021 and schools and organizations around the world are celebrating by sharing stories and hosting events.

Here are some of the benefits of international education that we are celebrating this year:

Canadian Education

Canada is one of the most popular destinations for international students. Students who choose Canada benefit from our world-class education system including language, undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate programs.

Canadian Culture

Canadians are famous for being polite, respectful and peace-loving. Originally influenced by various Indigenous and European cultures, today Canada is one of the most diverse countries in the world thanks to our welcoming immigration system.

Canadian English

Every year, thousands of students from around the world come to ILAC to improve their language skills. Canadian English is globally preferred because it is a mix of American-style pronunciation and both British and American spelling.

Canadian Jobs

Canada is experiencing a labour shortage and there are many job opportunities for international students during and after graduation. International students who graduate from a recognized post-secondary program may be eligible to work in Canada for up to three years.

Canadian Living

Canada is repeatedly ranked as one of the best countries in the world to live. According to a survey by the Canadian Bureau of International Education (CBIE), approximately 60% of international students hope to stay in Canada after graduation.

Want to learn more? This week the Canadian Bureau of International Education (CBIE) is hosting its annual conference, with 70+ sessions and 1000+ participants from more than 30 countries attending virtually.
