We are excited to announce that according to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) as of November 22, 2014  Chilean citizens no longer require a visa to visit Canada for a short period of time. This means that Chilean visitors can now stay in Canada for up to six months without having a visa.

“The embassy is doing an amazing effort, promoting education in Canada and creating awareness of the destination,” said Jimmy Battaglia, ILAC Marketing Director – Latin America. “We are excited to share these news and sure that it gives us and our agents an opportunity to further deepen Canada-Chile relations and promote Canada as a great study destination.”

According to the CIC’s statistics, 10,500 Chilean citizens were issued a visa to visit Canada in 2013. Chile also meets Canada’s criteria for a visa exemption which is based on migration trends, border management issues, socio-economic indicators and many more.

Chilean citizens who would like to study for more than six months or work in Canada will still have to apply for the appropriate permits, which they can easily do online.

Listen to the ILAC Radio Podcast with a special guest David Orman, Immigration Lawyer:
