A Wonderful Mix of Nationalities at ILAC

A Wonderful Mix

– Alisha Sevigny

At ILAC we are lucky to have so many nationalities from all over the world. In any class you can find a few Brazilians, a couple of Venezuelans, a Colombian or Saudi Arabian or two, some Koreans and Japanese, a Swiss student here, a Turkish student there, some Mexican and Russian students and many, many more (too many to list here)! We even get celebrities studying here, like the famous Russian actor Aleksei Serebryakov, as seen in the short video above.

One of the things that makes ILAC great is this wonderful mix of culture and diversity where people learn about one another, form lasting friendships and grow and mature in a way that is only possible when you travel and study abroad.

I like to think of each classroom as a mini–UN (United Nations); even our staff and teachers are from all over the world, making ILAC and Canada truly one of the most multi-cultural places to be in the world.

So take advantage of this mix of nationalities that you have at your fingertips. Meet and speak with people from different backgrounds. Try not to only talk to people who speak your language, even though it feels comfortable and safe, those people will always be there when you go back to your country. Make the most of this opportunity and try to make as many friends from different cultures as you can.

And who knows? If you ever want to travel, it’s good to have a friend (and a couch ;)) in every country around the world!
