Pre-Degree Certificate Program

University Pathway Program

Pre-Degree Certificate program

Description

  • Prepares students to study at a Canadian university or college and teaches students sophisticated fluency and written English skills
  • Students will learn to write university essays of 1000+ words, strategies for teamwork in an academic environment, critical thinking, time management, oral presentations, exam techniques, academic research and TOEFL preparation and practice
  • Program qualifies students to enter many of ILAC’s partner universities or colleges and all graduates will be able to achieve a successful TOEFL score (minimum 80 – 100 iBT)

Program Length

  • Students who test at the Advanced level can begin the program. Students who test below Advanced will begin in our General English program first. There are three categories of students:
  1. Students, who test at the High Advanced level or already have a high TOEFL/IELTS score, will begin the Pre-Degree program. Students will require a minimum of 8 weeks to complete the certificate for college studies and 12 weeks for university studies or post-graduate studies
  2. Students, who test at the Pre-Advanced level and still need to develop a foundation for academic English, will begin in the Advanced Academic Studies course first. Students at this level should expect the program to take 14 - 28 weeks
  3. Students who test below level 10 will begin the program taking General English classes until they reach the Pre-Advanced level

Advanced 16 weeks – 20 weeks
Pre-Advanced 24 weeks – 28 weeks
High Intermediate 28 weeks – 32 weeks
Intermediate 32 weeks - 40 weeks
Beginner 40 weeks – 52 weeks
