Business English
Preparation for the Cambridge Business Exams (BEC)
Description
- Develop English skills for employment and practical business situations. Topics include handling telephone calls, negotiating, networking, managing meetings, interviewing, and socializing in a business environment; as well as the ability to write effective business memos, letters, e-mails, informal and formal reports and presentation materials
- Students will be tested using the Business English Certificates (BEC). This exam is internationally recognized and teaches the skills for using English in the workplace
Course Goals
- Develop the English skills necessary to work and communicate in an international business environment
- Pass Cambridge Business Examinations (BEC)
- Certificate of Business English fluency based on your final level completed and length of study
Duration
- Students may study for as many levels as required
- The minimum course length is 2 weeks
- Students tested at level 10 (Pre-Advanced) will begin in the Introduction to Business course (12 weeks complete)
- Students tested at level 13 (Advanced) will study in the Advanced Business course (12 weeks complete)
Program Options
Requirements
- Students will take a written and oral placement test on the first day to determine English level
- Beginner and Intermediate students will start in General English Principal classes and begin taking Business English electives classes in level 8. After completing level 9 students can begin the Business English course program as the principal class
- Students tested at Advanced level (level 10+) will be immediately eligible to enter the Business English program
